How will my games get determined?

For this listing, you would offer to purchase a certain number of games and tickets from the Season Ticket Holder. The actual games and tickets you would get would be determined at a later date using the the following method:

Online Draft
New partner will participate in Online Draft. Draft will be held at a time and date agreeable to the majority of partners. Draft picks will be based on the number of games each partner is purchasing. Draft Order will be set fairly giving all partners a pick in the first round and the remaining picks will be fairly determined based on the proportion of games owned by each partner. The Draft Order shall NOT unfairly benefit or harm any partner(s). All games and tickets shall be included in the draft.

Joe, we've traded some messages regarding half of the 20 game plan C that makes up part of the 40 game package. I'm curious about how the tickets would be distributed? I assume it would be nothing more than a draft with one other person. Just want some clarity around this before submitting a formal offer.
  • For the C games, it would just be you and me, alternating picks and taking all four tickets to each game until all dates are selected. You get first pick; if this becomes a long term partnership we would alternate first picks each year. This draft could be done by phone, email or IRL over a beer. Since we have the schedule, it would be nice to make these selections before the end of this year, so that I will know what games to add to our four person draft. Physical ticket delivery by mail or in person in March; or there is probably an electronic method as well, but I haven't looked into it as yet. Does this sound OK to you?

The schedule has been released: http://mlb.mlb.com/min/ticketing/season_info.jsp I can commit to 1/2 of 20 game plan C or 10 games, which gets us pretty close. I am a 40 game plan holder as well, so I have had to disperse many games to others and have always been able to get what I have paid for them.
  • Saw the schedule email just after the last post. I am checking with my group to see if anyone is interested in extra games. Should know by early next week, so send another message then and hopefully we can make it happen and work out draft details now that games are set.

Question regarding dispersal of the games... in the description it shows the tickets would come from one of the 20 game plans (C/D). I'd have some interest in 1/2 of plan C. Just wondering what games I'd have to choose from or how that would work.
  • At this point, I don't think the overall schedule is set, and the specific games in the various 20 and 40 games packages hasn't been released to partial-season ticket holders. If we had partners wishing to take a total of twenty games, those twenty would come from a single 20 game subset. For example, our 40 game package has always been Package A, and last year the A package contained the games included in 20 game sets C and D. This year may be different, and I may not know the details until late Nov or early Dec. Ideally, if you had a baseball friend that was interested in pooling resources for a full 20 games, it would then be easy to divide tickets, and you would enjoy far better seat location by virtue of our long history with these tickets. My dilemma is that before the end of November I will need to downgrade our package unless I have a commitment from a partner(s) to buy at least 16 games, preferably all 20. Long answer, without getting you the game specifics-wish I had more detail for you.

Are you asking a flat rate of $40 per ticket, regardless of games? Certainly interested in up to 10 games.
  • In our Diamond Box section, the 40 game package includes games in all five of the "demand-pricing" levels, so some would have face values (at the walk up window) that could be lower or higher than $40 depending on date and opponent. Overall, our package averaged out to around $48 per ticket retail, but the season ticket pricing is discounted to $40. So, a ten game partner would pay 4 x 10 x $40. $1600 for 25% of our 40 game package, and that subset would be made up of all pricing tiers, just like the rest of the package, without any markup. We would retain control of any special events or playoff ticket opportunities (wishful thinking...) . We will need to get partners committed to at least 18 games total out of the 40 in our package.
